In the Act of June 2004, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the first time approved the commercial marketing of Medicinal Leeches for medicinal use and established that leeches met the definition of medical devices.
Today we are getting new discoveries based on the results of medical research about the effects of the substances produced by medicinal leeches that are introduced to the body during treatment. Even prestigious Stanford University Hospital uses medicinal leeches for the treatment of plastic reconstructive surgery.
This therapy is natural, non-invasive, drug-less and proven to be effective. Leech therapy detoxifies the body, improves circulation, purifies the blood, strengthens the immune system and rejuvenates the body.
Why leech therapy is so effective?
Leech therapy is not only about blood-letting. Nowadays there is a lot of medical research that has been done in Russia, Germany, Poland and England that proves scientifically why leech therapy is so effective.
Leech saliva contains several bioactive substances, including anti-coagulants, blood-thinners, vaso-dilators, anesthetics, antibiotics (i.e. chloromycetyna), Hyaluronidase, Destabilase, Bdellines, Eglines, Histamine-like substances, Lipolytic enzymes, Growth Factors, Cholesterol esterase, Lipase, Triglyceridase and many more substances.
Where do our leeches come from?
All our leeches are raised in controlled sterile environments in Biopharms in Europe. Medicinal leeches come from FDA approved suppliers. They do not come from the wild and we do not raise them. It is illegal to raise medicinal leeches in the US. The government has never approved any Biopharms in this country. DO NOT RISK YOUR HEALTH WITH LEECHES THAT COME FROM UNKNOW SOURCES. The medicinal species are Hirudo medicinalis and Hirudo verbena. These two species have the most medicinal properties. Other species are not effective and could pose a health risk.
